Welcome to the School Karate Club.
At The School Karate Club students from age 5 learn Traditional
Shotokan Karate.
This is a non competitive martial art which means that students work at
their own pace, without having to feel they have to keep up with other
people in the class.
This way of training also helps students realise that whilst they may
not be as flexible, fast, fit or energetic as another person, they can still
enjoy the training and progress in their own time and way.
There is also minimum contact with other students making it
extremely safe.
As well as learning one of the most popular worldwide self defence
arts, students are also taught many life skills e.g.
•
Self Confidence
•
Patience
•
Respect to others
•
Co-ordination
•
Awareness
•
Determination
•
Higher concentration levels
•
Learning ability
•
energy levels
Many teachers have commented that those students that have
started the day at our karate class are more proactive and attentive
during the rest of the school day.
At the end of each term, if students have progressed with their training,
they can take a grading (exam). If theypass the grading they will then be
allowed to wear a different coloured belt which shows their achievment
and they will then begin to study the next level of training.
The School Karate Clubs were established in 2007 by Huw Steiner.
Huw has been teaching Shotokan Karate to both adults and
children for over 17 years and has reached the grade of 5th Dan
(5th level) Black Belt.
He is also qualified as a Grading Examiner and competition judge.
Many thanks to all the students and parents of The School Karate Club
for letting me use their photos and ideas for this website. We are
continually updating the site so some links might not yet be complete.
Please contact us if you have any questions eg class times, costs,
suitability of karate for your children etc.
Most people like our clubs but you have to try it and see for yourself.
Thank you
